For the September issue of Home with Ceola J., the magazine, we are focusing on Taking Your Place, which, in essence, is about discovering and understanding the truth of who you are, why you are here, and the place Father God has purposed for you. Because how can we truly take our place if we don’t know the truth? So, as I write this blog, I want to focus there: living in the truth.
I’m not talking about your truth, which we see a lot of these days. We see a lot of “your truth,” but the only absolute truth is “the” truth; whether we want to admit it or not, there is only one truth, and it can come only from the One who is truth: Father God, the one and only true living God. John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
Until we 1) accept that truth, we cannot 2) live in the truth. The Word tells us in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” And for some reason many of us refuse to acknowledge or accept that truth.
The Word also tells us in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Many of us are living in a lie, or living a lie. What do I mean by living a lie? Living according to expectations that were never Father God’s plan for us, pretending we’re fulfilled when we’re empty, or pursuing something simply because the world or culture tells us that it represents success. Accepting that you’re living a lie is a hard truth, but it is the truth that will ultimately make you free. Unfortunately, as a result, many are living outside of truth; not living the life, in the purpose, the will, or in the desire of the Father for our lives. But Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
How many of you have asked yourselves, quietly and privately, or in counseling or coaching sessions, any of these questions: “What is this life all about? Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing?” And so many more questions similar to these. If you have these questions, they directly drive the quest your spirit man is on. You’re seeking the truth, not a truth or your truth; the real, authentic truth that can only come from the One who is the truth! This is a good place because it is the starting place for living a life of truth, happiness, purpose, and fulfillment. In fact, this is a great place to be. Sometimes the life we’re trying so hard to find isn’t something new we need to create; it’s the truth we need to return to.
Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” And Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” What do you stand to lose by asking the right questions of the right person? I implore you to ask the questions. The answer will be life-giving, purposeful, and fulfilling.
Because taking your place begins with knowing the truth—the truth about who you are, why you are here, and what Father God has purposed for your life. You cannot fully take your place while trying to live someone else’s life, fulfill someone else’s expectations, or become who the world says you should be. At some point, you have to be willing to discover the truth for yourself and then have the courage to live in it.
Maybe that is where you are today. Maybe you’ve been asking the questions. Maybe you’ve felt the stirring that there has to be more. Maybe Father God has been calling you into a place you haven’t quite understood or dared to step into. This could be your invitation to seek Him, discover the truth, and finally take your place.
Sometimes the life we’re trying so hard to find isn’t something new we need to create; it’s the truth we need to return to. And when you discover that truth, don’t just acknowledge it—you own it, settle into it, and begin to live in it. You take your place in it. So, let me be the first to congratulate you on your new journey of discovery and celebrate your returning home to your first love!
